Founded in 2016 by Martin Unsworth and Katy Sue Collette, Montréal Montgolfière is first and foremost a small family business born from a passion for hot-air balloons, entrepreneurship, and human connection.
Martin has flown all over the world and founded Montréal Montgolfière to live his passion with his family. He now loves sharing the history and landscapes of Montérégie with every passenger.
Katy discovered the wonderful world of hot-air balloons through love. Together, they combine entrepreneurial spirit and experience to deliver exceptional service and memorable flights.

WHO IS THE Montréal Montgolfière TEAM?
MARTIN UNSWORTH
Pilot and owner
Martin has been passionate about hot-air balloons since childhood. He has flown in Quebec, the United States, Australia, Europe, and over the African savannah, developing extensive experience with passenger flights.
In 2021, Martin ranked 2nd in Canada and 1st in Quebec at the Canadian Championship, which qualified him for the 2022 World Championship in Slovenia. In 2024 and 2025, he won first place in Canada and qualified again for the 2026 World Championship in Poland.
With over 20 years of piloting experience and more than 2,200 flight hours, he founded Montréal Montgolfière with pride to share his passion.
KATY SUE COLLETTE
Owner, manager, and crew member
At Montréal Montgolfière, a real person takes care of your reservation: Katy. Her management and customer-service experience help ensure attentive, high-quality service.
Katy runs operations while keeping both feet on the ground. She works alongside Martin and the family to make each flight, event, and festival warm, professional, and memorable.
RAPHAEL RICHARD
Pilot
Raphael has been in the ballooning world since age 4. He grew up around chase crews and training operations, and became a pilot at age 20.
He flies with passion and shares it with every passenger. After competing in Canada, he took part in the Junior World Championship in Poland and continues to grow in high-level competition.
MAXIME PASCOAL
Pilot
Licensed since 2020, Maxime has accumulated many passenger flight hours in the region and at several festivals in Quebec, New Brunswick, and New Mexico.
Calm and logical, Maxime always analyzes the best possible conditions. His serious yet friendly approach helps passengers feel confident and comfortable.
CAROLINE BOMBARDIER
Crew member
Caroline discovered ballooning at a very young age through the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu festival. Since 2001, she has worked in chase operations and passed her passion on to her son.
Now that her son is a pilot, she is his team leader during flights, events, and festivals. She has participated in many festivals in Quebec, New Brunswick, and Mexico.
In 2023, she had the opportunity to take part in the Junior World Championship in Grudziądz, Poland, with her son.
In 2024 and 2025, she was part of Montréal Montgolfière's Canadian championship-winning team.
With her years of field experience and ballooning knowledge, Caroline is the perfect person to answer your questions kindly and professionally.

Crew member
Dominique also discovered ballooning through love and quickly got involved with confidence and initiative.
